We are having a really busy time at the moment, editing and getting ready for the broadcast on 11th and 17th December. We have also been filmed by the BBC for a piece that went out on Look North last night. Exciting times!
And we will be at the Newcastle Book Festival on 24th November to talk about Rule 55
Exciting times as we are auditioning for the play this week, we thought you might like to hear a short snippet, from our first reading a couple of months ago.
Tony Henderson from the Newcastle Journal was intrigued by the story of the rail accident that inspired Rule 55. It is a part of history that had been forgotten.
Join us in listening to a community play based on a factual incident. Find out what happened to ordinary people whose lives were torn apart in December 1915. The story addresses themes such as the effects of war, women’s rights and being true to oneself. Original music and artwork has been specially written and designed by local musician Ben Hudson of folk group LOWP and local artist Stephen Pratt.
Radio station: Hive Radio, based at Bede’s World.
Listen: At www.hiveradio.org
Dates: Friday, December 11th at 7p.m – 8 p.m.
Repeated throughout the day on Thursday, December 17th when you will also be able to hear interviews with an historical researcher, descendants, musician, artists and actors.
